Thank you again Bmudi! Tessie is the wrong word? No wonder I had so much trouble registering for this forum. The online dictionary I found, you should look at it: http://www.tranexp.com:2000/Translate/result.shtml Go from Hungarian to English, and ask it to translate Tessie. It told me Tessie meant please. Who knows what other wrong things it has told me.

Hi Don't know, if I am in the right thread here. Hope, it's ok. I am Susanne, Susa for short. I am from Switzerland and we do have Kuvasz since 1984. I used to work with all my Kuvasz in Dogsport like Companiondog, Tracking and Search&Rescue. I am a dog trainer and am very interested in working with Kuvasz. I like Shows and competition and beside all this, my male Kuvasz Maros ( 9 y. ) loves to see me on my ride out when I am on horseback. Susa & Maros

I think Hungarian language is very difficult for a foreigner.For example:You wrote to Imre about "Tessie".I'm sure he will answer ,but I would like to tell you an interesting thing.You mentioned the word"Tessie".There isn't a word like that in Hungarian, 'tessék' is the correct word . It means: Tessék! =Here you are , Come in! etc. Tessék?=Pardon? I'm sorry, my English knowledge is not the best,but I think you understand me.Bye! "... tenyésztői becsület nélkül nem működik."

I sent an email to a Kuvasz email list back in 2004 of my experiences at this show. I included the critiques from the judges. so, the easiest thing would to repost that message here. It will mean lots of hard translating for those who don't speak English! Sorry about that. Here is my message : "Thanks everyone for you leash and collar recommendations. I used the 30 inch one this weekend. Decided to go to the International All Breed Canine Association Of America (Alle Rasse Gruppe) shows (3 shows in 2 days) at Newport Beach. Thought it would be good experience for Magda. This showing system is completely different than the AKC, and I spent most of the weekend a little confused. But I'll do my best to give information about the shows. The judges we had were Patti Long Smith (Texas) judged yesterday, John Ramirez (California) judged yesterday, and Dr. Steve Keating (Texas) judged today. Dogs get written evaluations by each judge and are also given a rating. Magda went in the 6 to 9 month puppy class called Jungsten. She received an SG 1 rating (the highest a puppy can get) from each judge, so she is now a National Chmapion in the IABCA system. Plus I got some really positive comments about Magda orally. Here are the evaluation sheets for Magda (I just figured out how to read the form, so NOW all the shorthand stuff makes sense). Oh, and I forgot to mentiont that it was RAINING during the classes yesterday. Ugh, that part was miserable (got a whole river of water pour right on my head from one of the awnings the judges were standing under). Magda, however loved the rain, the pill! The first judge had the hardest time, with a bunch of dogs jammed under that awning while it poured just outside the roofline--two rings at once being judged under there with very little room. It was exciting (and Magda loved it of course!).g Patti Long Smith: Judgement has potential, social, Beurteilung alert, loves mommy! 1. Allg. Eindruck nice young female Overall Impression 2. That she was very animated as opposed to many Kuvasz who are kind of dull/dead (can't remember which word he used) in the ring. Dr. Steve Keating: Judgement Good balance/proportional Beurteilung female 1. Allg. Eindruck Good attitude Overall Impression 2. Haarkleid excellent texture Coat 3. Kopf beautiful shape Head 4. Gebiss correct for breed Bite, mouth 5. Auge correct shape/set Eyes 6. Behang/Ohr good placement Ears 7. Brust good spring of rib Chest 8. V-Hand well assembled Front Angulation 9. H-Hand well angulated Back angulation 10. Rucken strong/firm Top Line 11. Rute nice carriage Tail 12. Aktion good motion Movement Magda thought the whole thing was thrilling. Er, she was not exactly perfectly behaved (better the second day than the first) as she did more bouncing around the ring than actually gaiting, but it was rather fun (especially when one has a firecracker at the end of the lead). I got so many people coming up to pet Magda and say how beautiful they thought she was--people with all different breeds. Had a handler showing Rotties take her out in the parking lot to gait and stack her (she free baited GREAT for him). Wow, I sure never got her looking that good. I was stunned it was my dog. He said she was really cute and had THE attitude of a showdog. Well, enough bragging for now. Feel free to chop my swelled head down to size. A few more things. The prizes are pretty neat, a certificate signed by each judge and with her name printed on it with cute little medallions and ribbons plus a neck ribbon (with another medallion) to hang around her neck (from each class). As well as the evaluation forms. Oh, and I had her championship pictures taken with the marina as a background. Hope they turn out! " Melissa and Magda [email protected]

Hi Jozsef, Magda won a puppy title at a show that uses the FCI standard (yours!) but it was not actually an FCI show. The organization is called the International All Breed Canine Association of America (IABCA). The way titles are awarded is different than at the AKC shows where most Americans show their dogs. In these IABCA shows, dogs must earn multiple certificates from different judges in order to win titles (in AKC shows dogs must defeat a certain number of dogs of its own breed to earn a championship title--very different concept). Also at IABCA shows, dogs get written critiques from the judges. I will post the critiques. Melissa and Magda [email protected]

Hi Imre, How did I find this forum? Google!!!! I was searching for pictures of famous Kuvasz and Kuvasz currently winning in the show ring in Hungary, and Google found netboard.hu. This was months ago. I really enjoyed all the pictures of these excellent dogs, but I had a hard time understanding the text. I recently found an online Hungarian-English dictionary. It isn't the best because there are many words posted in this forum that the dictionary does not understand. Also, some definitions are hilarious (means very, very funny!), and I know they cannot be correct. I am trying to learn some Hungarian, but I'm afraid I may be too old to learn another language. According to the online dictionary, "Tessie" means "please" in Hungarian. I had no idea! Here, "Tessie" is just a girl's name. My email address must seem odd with "Tessie" in it. Now I will know why I may get strange looks from Hungarian people. Melissa and Magda [email protected]
