well, the Organisation " Specie Rare " in Switzerland does support and protect old rare breeds of all Farmanimals that are in danger of dying out.
They try to keep the breeds and revive them.
Yes, it is a Hobby to breed Mangalica Pigs, however, they use the porkmeat anyway.

Hi Melissa,
I think, it is a "Mangalica Pig", an ancient Hungarian breed. Nowadays a very rare breed, that has been in danger of dying out. In Switzerland it does belong to the " Specie rare " and ist protected.
They say, that the english Word for "bacon" was to derive from "Bakony" where the best bacon of those pigs has been coming from.

Hi,
I was working at the CACIB Show Stuttgart Germany, writing the juge's report. We've had an entry of totally 21 dogs, 3 Komondor, 3 Kuvasz, 4 Puli, 3 Pumi, 2 Mudi and the rest of it were Great Pyrenée.

Thank you ! Gorinka was a half-sister to Maros. They have the same mother. And both dogs were very successful in Shows.
Is that sweet Youngster in the Avatar your Kuvi? How old is it now ?
Yes, I know about the river Maros.  its Romanian name is Mures. Maros' first name Huszar is because he was of the H-litter. And I have choosen it, because of my second passion, the horses. I thought, it would suit to him. But Maros is better to call.
Moni has given me very good instruction how to post fotos, - so I will try.

hihi, sure, I do know that breed ¨it's a Mudi  The Mudi is booming in Germany and Switzerland.
My optinion about Kuvasz' Mind and Temperament is, that they are very independend, bright, highly inteligent, and they "think for them self", they don't work and obey like soldier. That is what I love in this breed ! They are excellent search and tracking dogs.
Here, where the Kuvasz will be kept as Pet, we must offer another job, than only guarding. That is my personal opinion.
for a Kuvasz, that has nothing to do and is getting bored, will find himself a "Hobby" or job, and most of the time, this will not turn out good. In fact it will end in a disaster. So I think, we must do something with our dogs, and for our dogs, to keep them busy.

Don't know, if I am in the right thread here. Hope, it's ok. I am Susanne, Susa for short. I am from Switzerland and we do have Kuvasz since 1984.
I used to work with all my Kuvasz in Dogsport like Companiondog, Tracking and Search&Rescue.
I am a dog trainer and am very interested in working with Kuvasz.
I like Shows and competition and beside all this, my male Kuvasz Maros ( 9 y. ) loves to see me on my ride out when I am on horseback.
